Claudia Thomas's Gallery   -   Artist Biography

Claudia Thomas has an art degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and while there, had the opportunity to study art history in Italy for four weeks. Working for Delta Airlines, she visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the former studio of Norman Rockwell in Arlington, Vermont; The Musee D'Orsey and Louvre in Paris, France; the former home and gardens of Claude Monet in Giverny, France; The National Gallery in London, England; and the Egyptian Museum and Archives in Cairo, Egypt. She has studied landscape and plein air painting with nationally known artists Tom Sadler in Orlando,FL ; Larry Moore in Avon Park, FL; Greg Kreutz in Maitland, FL and Stewart Shils Master Class in Cross Village, MI. Her work is represented on pp. 58- 59 in the Book 100 Southern Artists  and pp. 60- 61 in the Book Artists Homes and Studios by E. Ashley Rooney, the former published by Schiffer 9/2012 and the latter 1/2015. All the work is oil on canvas, canvas board or masonite  painted in a realistic impressionistic style. She is inspired by the natural effects of sunlight in the landscape and works quickly to capture the fleeting shadows and subtly changing colors throughout the day. Paints weekly with The Florida Painters. Portraying the landscape creates a reverence for the symmetry and beauty of Nature.

 Enters juried competitions and displays work in themed shows and galleries. She has exhibited in Florida at the University Club in Winter Park, The Gallery at Avalon Island, Leu Gardens Garden Gallery, Board of County Commissioners Chambers in Orlando, Art Affair Gallery in Sanford, Orlando City Arts Factory, Osceola Center for The Arts, Winter Garden, The Art House of Casselberry, Florida Hospital at Altamonte, 1st Thursday at OMA, Winter Park Library, Maitland Library, Harris House in New Smyrna Bch, Four Arts Museum in Palm Beach, Heritage Center and Welcome Center of Winter Park, Casa Feliz, Florida Frame House Gallery, Mount Dora Center for the Arts, Museum of Florida Art and Culture in Avon Park, Cornell Art Museum in Delray, Mills Gallery, and Ravalias Italian Restaurant in Lake Mary.
